A Christmas Carol

Woodstock, IL – Theatre 121 will present a world-premiere adaptation of A Christmas Carol, adapted and directed for the stage by Jeffery Cook.
The adaptation centers around Elizabeth Scrooge, a “woman of business” in 1840s London, and her journey of self-discovery and redemption with the help of three Spirits. The show will run on the following dates:
November 18 – 7:30 p.m.
November 19 – 2:00 pm
November 20– 2:00 p.m.
November 25 – 8:00 p.m.
November 26 – 2:00 p.m. & 7:30 pm
November 27 – 4:00 p.m.
December 2 – 7:30 p.m.
December 3 – 2:00 p.m. & 7:30 pm
December 4 – 2:00 p.m.
Not a straight gender-swap, this version of A Christmas Carol is a reimagined vision that brings a different perspective to the story while retaining many of the characters and traditional warmth of the original Charles Dickens classic.
“Telling the story of a different kind of Scrooge, with her own motivations, throws audience expectation out the window,” Cook says. “It allows me to dig deeper into themes and stories that live between the pages of the original novella to tell a more complex, richer tale.”
