🥒 The Legend Returns in 2026!
Legend of the Pickle is BACK — and this year, we’re celebrating Woodstock as America’s Pickle Town! Did you know that ALL Claussen Pickles in the United States are made right here in Woodstock, Illinois? That’s a pretty BIG DILL — and we’re ready to celebrate!
The 2026 Legend of the Pickle Scavenger Hunt officially kicks off on National Pickle Day, Saturday, November 14, with a special kickoff celebration from 12:00–2:00 PM on the patio of Squire on the Square. Claussen Pickles will join us to help start the festivities!
As part of the kickoff, Mayor Mike Turner will share a special proclamation recognizing Woodstock as “America’s Pickle Town.” 🥒
Participants will visit local businesses searching for hidden ornamental pickles. Once they find the required number of pickles, they can turn in their completed play card to the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Everyone who completes the hunt will receive a Legend of the Pickle craft ornament for their own Christmas tree and will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win some GREAT prizes! Prize winners will be announced before the holidays.
Participating businesses simply hide an ornamental pickle on a Christmas tree — or get creative and find another fun location somewhere inside your business — and keep it hidden and available for scavenger hunters to find November 14 through December 7. Have a pickle ornament from a previous Legend of the Pickle? You can use it again! Need a pickle ornament? The Chamber will have them available for purchase for $5.
Your business will be included as an official Legend of the Pickle Scavenger Hunt location, encouraging residents and visitors to walk through your doors while completing their hunt.
Businesses are welcome to create a pickle-themed promotion, special, display or giveaway to add to the fun, but businesses are NOT required to provide a prize. We would love for restaurants to offer a special pickle dish or drink during the 3 weeks too, let's celebrate being "America's Pickle Town!"

How the Scavenger Hunt Works
The Legend of the Pickle Scavenger Hunt will run from Saturday, November 14 through Monday, December 7, giving participants more than three weeks to explore Woodstock, visit our local businesses and find those hidden pickles! Beginning November 14, scavenger hunters will pick up their official Legend of the Pickle play card, featuring participating businesses located throughout Woodstock. Then the adventure begins!Participants will visit local businesses searching for hidden ornamental pickles. Legend of the Pickle Scavenger Hunt kicks off Sunday, November 14 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Squire on the Square patio at the Old Courthouse Center. All game cards must be turned in by 5pm on Monday, December 7 to the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry for a chance to win prizes.
Location
