Halfway To Groundhog Day
Join us in Woodstock Square Park for a special Halfway to Groundhog Day celebration featuring music, movie memories, and a landmark dedication honoring the town’s most famous festival. Bob Hudgins, Locations Manager for the film Groundhog Day, returns to lead a guided walking tour of iconic filming locations around town, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and insights. The tour begins at the bandstand in the Square, so bring a blanket or lawn chair and settle in for an afternoon of entertainment. Enjoy live music from the Woodstock Community Choir, featuring favorites from Woodstock Willie’s Songbook, including a community sing-along of “I Got You Babe.” The celebration continues with Die Musikmeisters, the Groundhog Day Polka Band, bringing festive energy with “Pennsylvania Polka.” A highlight of the afternoon will be the dedication of a new bronze groundhog statue in the Square, the heart of where much of the film was shot. Created by renowned sculptor Erik Blome, whose public works can be found across the country and around the world, this new installation adds a lasting tribute to Woodstock’s film legacy. Following the dedication, guests are invited across the street to Squire on the Square at the Courthouse Center to continue the celebration with the traditional Drink to World Peace toast on the patio.
