COMMUNITY MEMBERS MAKE BIG WELCOME SPLASH FOR NEW THEATRE SERIES
Woodstock, IL—Woodstock is often referred to as the “arts & culture capital” of McHenry County. The creative talent found here, combined with the power of community support, will launch a new family-friendly theatre series with the inaugural live stage production of RAINBOW FISH at Woodstock Opera House on Friday and Saturday, September 25 & 26, 2026.
The professionally-acted show is being directed by local producers Cassandra Vohs Demann and Billy Seger, two names well-known in Woodstock’s creative community. Their goal is to expand family entertainment opportunities, while educating children of all ages about the value of theatre arts. The shows on Friday, September 25, are for school groups; to schedule your group call Betsy at the Opera House 815-338-5300. Tickets for two shows on Saturday, 10am and 2pm, are now on sale to the public at Woodstock Opera House: www.woodstockoperahouse.com.
The project was initiated through support of Friends of the Opera House, led by President Peggy Hart. Additional supporters quickly jumped in to offer financial and promotional encouragement, in hopes of establishing the project as a continuing theatre arts series.
Related events now include the “Here Fishie, Fishie!” Treasure Hunt retail promotion through Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, with passport cards available at 25 participating shops, August 15 – September 12; “Paint Your Fish Friend” free clay magnet painting at Artisans on Main-Clayworkers Guild, August 29, 2-5pm; and, Miss Arlene’s reading of the original story RAINBOW FISH by Marcus Pfister, at Woodstock Farmers Market, 10:30am on September 19. Miss Arlene will also announce prize winner names from Treasure Hunt cards turned in to Read Between the Lynes bookstore no later than September 15. Full details for these activities are available through the Woodstock Chamber’s website at: www.woodstockilchamber.com or by calling 815-338-2436.
