Peace Poles are internationally recognized monuments bearing the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in multiple languages. Found in communities around the world, they serve as visible reminders of our shared hopes for a more peaceful and compassionate world.
Woodstock's newest Peace Pole will feature four languages: English, Spanish, Polish, and Tagalog, reflecting the diversity of the community and the universal nature of its message.
The project is part of a broader Rotary District 6440 initiative encouraging Rotary clubs to install Peace Poles throughout the region in anticipation of Rotary International's 125th anniversary convention in Chicago in 2030.
"For many years, John Hudson has demonstrated that peace is more than an aspiration. It is something we can actively promote through understanding, relationships, and service," said Scott Brix of the Rotary Club of Woodstock. "We hope this Peace Pole will inspire generations of Woodstock residents to reflect on the role each of us can play in building a more peaceful world."
The approximately 30-minute dedication ceremony will include remarks from Rotary representatives and John Hudson, along with the official dedication of the monument.
All community members are warmly invited to attend, including local faith communities, civic organizations, families, students, and anyone who believes in the importance of peace.
